Arctic Monkeys Raffle

Further to my continuing fundraising for the London Marathon, I decided to hold a charity raffle and so set out on my quest to blag freebies. In this quest I was lucky enough to get in touch with a nice lady who worked for a PR company who deals with the Arctic Monkeys.. anyway, after a lengthy conversation and the exchange of several emails, a load of freebies landed on my doormat. So, anyway, I now have in my possession the signed single 'Brianstorm', their new album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' and a signed postcard from the band, Travis.

I am now raffling the above off as one prize and I've added further prizes, music vouchers, cineworld vouchers and some chocolates. These are being raffled via my thread at: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=216373 So if you are interested to know more then please visit the above.

Hopefully, with the above prizes that will take the total raised from the London Marathon over the £1,500 mark.

Mart.

The above raffle has now closed!!

First of many.... London Marathon!

London Marathon 2007
Well, here it is, the first of hopefully many events to help me raise the funds required. As I've already completed this event I thought I'd drop a few lines so you all can see what I've raised so far and how the event went. The run went reasonably well, given the temperature on the day, until about the 8th mile when cramp set in. I persisted with the running, ignoring the niggling pain in my calf, but by the 14th mile marker my leg gave in and I could no longer feel my leg. Not wanting to be defeated and being cheered along by the amazing and supportive crowd, I dragged my tired legs and limped the last 12 miles of the course and eventually crossed the finish line 6 hours after I first started in Greenwich.
The total amount hoped to be raised from this event is £1,500. Please see link below for an update on the amount raised so far:

The BIG Fundraiser!!

Well, here it is... my simple little blog which hopefully document and keep you up to date on all things in my charity calendar.

Over the next 10 years, it is my intention to take part in various challenges in the hope of raising a substantial amount of money for charity, aiming to raise at least £100,000. I hope in return for my blood, sweat and tears that you will be generous enough to contribute both financially and through support on this board.
I will post details of a new challenges in advance of me (or my team) taking part, posting all information and links to any supporting sites so that you will be able to sponsor, support and follow my challenges as they happen. You are more than welcome to join and post stuff here also and I would be only too happy to reply.
All money raised, unless specified, will be donated to Meningitis trust. Why Meningitis Trust? I have chosen this charity, because Meningitis had a big impact on me when I lost my cousin Joanne, at the age of 16, to this disease. As I result of my cousin's tragic death, I decided to set up a trust fund with Meningitis Trust, dedicated to her memory. All monies raised will go via Joanne's trust fund to Meningitis Trust to fund research, awareness projects and rehab and support for survivors of meningitis. More information on Meningitis Trust and the work they do can be found here: www.meningitis-trust.org/ With your help and support over the next 10 years, I hope to raise the target amount and more, with the aim of preventing more precious children being lost to this disease.

Together we can make a huge impact by just giving a little.

Thanks for your support!
